High-Protein Cottage Cheese Bagels: A Delicious, Low-Carb Option

If you’re looking for a high-protein, low-carb breakfast or lunch option, these Cottage Cheese Protein Bagels are a must-try! Packed with 13g of protein per serving, they offer a satisfying, chewy texture with a deliciously rich flavor—thanks to the addition of cottage cheese.

Unlike traditional bagels, which can be heavy on carbs, this recipe keeps things light while still giving you the hearty, comforting bite you crave. Plus, they’re easy to make with simple ingredients, making them perfect for meal prep or a quick grab-and-go meal.

Pair these bagels with your favorite toppings—cream cheese, smoked salmon, avocado, or even a simple butter spread. Whether you enjoy them toasted or fresh out of the oven, they’re a nutrient-dense way to fuel your day without the carb crash.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (157.5g) whole milk cottage cheese

  • 2 large egg whites

  • 1 cup (112g) almond flour

  • ⅓ cup (36g) unflavored whey protein powder

  • 2 tbsp (14.2g) coconut flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ tbsp butter, melted

  • 1 tbsp Everything Bagel Seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.

  2. Blend the cottage cheese until smooth, then transfer to a large bowl. Whisk in the egg whites until well combined.

  3. Add the almond flour, protein powder, coconut flour, baking powder, and salt. Use a rubber spatula to mix until a dough forms.

  4. Wet or oil your hands, then form the dough into six large balls, re-wetting your hands as needed. Place them on the baking sheet and press down to about 1½ inches thick.

  5. Dip the end of a wooden spoon into water, then press into the center of each mound to create a hole, rotating the spoon slightly to widen it.

  6. Brush the tops with melted butter or oil, then sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning.

  7. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until the bagels are puffed and lightly golden. They should feel firm to the touch.

  8. Let cool completely before slicing.
